Village Style Fish Curry Recipe


Village Style Fish Curry


  Prep Time : 1 Hour

  Ingredients :

  1. Fish - 1/2 kg   
  2. Shallots  -  1/4 cup
  3. Ginger Garlic Paste  -  1 tbsp
  4. Red Chilli Powder - 1 tbsp     
  5. Tomato  - 1 (small size)
  6. Tamarind  - small lemon size
  7. Jaggery  - 1 small piece    
  8. Turmeric - 1 pinch 
  9. Rice - 1/2 tbsp 
  10. Pepper Powder  - 1/4  tbsp
  11. Few Coriander leaves (chopped)
  12. Few Curry leaves
  13. Salt to taste                   

To Make Masala Paste :

  1. Coriander Seeds  - 1 tbsp
  2. Chana dal - 1/4 tbsp   
  3. Urad dal - 1/4 tbsp   
  4. Cumin Seeds  - 1/2 tbsp
  5. Rice - 1/2 tbsp 
  6. Shallots  -  9 -10 nos
  7. Red  Chillies - 10 nos
  8. Coconut  -  3 tbsp 

  For Tempering :

  1.  Mustard Seeds  - 1/4 tbsp
  2.  Fenugreek Seeds  - 1/4  tbsp 

     Steps :

  1. Heat a pan add 2 tbsp of oil.
  2. Add  1 tbsp of coriander Seeds,1/2 tbsp of  cumin Seeds, 10 red chillies,1/4 tbsp of  urad dal,1/4 tbsp of chana dal, 9-10 shallots, 3 tbsp of grated coconut and fry this for few minutes.
  3. Then transfer this to a mixer jar and make a smooth paste.
  4. In a pan add oil , add 1/4 tbsp of mustard seeds,1/4 tbsp of fenugreek seeds .
  5. Add  1/4 cup of shallots fry for few minutes.
  6. Add 1 tbsp of ginger garlic paste , and few curry leaves ,and some salt , add 1/2 tbsp of red chilli powder , 2 pinches of turmeric powder.
  7. Add tamarnid water , and  then add 2 cups of water.
  8. Boil the tamarnid water for 10 minutes.
  9. Add the masala paste , add 1 cup of water, cook the masala paste till the raw smell goes on.
  10. Finally add the fish , add a piece of jaggery , then allow it to boil for 10 minutes.
  11. Finally garnish with few coriander leaves ,add 1/4 tbsp of pepper powder.
